Water Brake Dynamometer

Description

The W-HS Series water brake engine dynamometer builds on the proven performance of the X-Series (models 50X01 and 50X02), offering enhanced capabilities for testing electric motors, industrial gasoline engines, and light- to medium-duty diesel applications. With a non-ferrous alloy construction that reduces inertia and specialized rotor assemblies for high-speed, high-torque testing, the W-HS Series delivers greater flexibility and efficiency across a wide range of engine displacements all in a single, robust unit.

Features

  • For electric motors, gasoline, and higher speed diesel applications
  • A stainless steel, non-tapered shaft design
  • Alloy construction allows for low inertia, high-absorption characteristics in a compact package
  • Removable bearing and seal housings facilitate technical service without the need for disassembly of the absorber
  • Low-inertia and high-absorption characteristics in a compact package
  • Provides equal, bi-directional loading capabilities
  • Through-shaft design allows either end of the dynamometer to be driven and for dyno mounted starting systems to be used

Benefits

  • The ability to test a wide range of engine displacements on the same dynamometer
  • Through-shaft design allows either end of the dynamometer to be driven and to accept additional dynamometers in tandem plus a variety of accessories including starting systems
  • Equal absorption capabilities in either direction of rotation

  • Standard testing capacity is up to 350 hp per rotor and under for tests that are up to 8 hours long.
  • Intermittent testing capacity is up to 500 hp per rotor. No more than 10% of the test time and 10 minutes per test whichever is shorter should be spent in the power range between Standard capacity and Intermittent capacity.
  • Testing requirements in excess of 8hr continuous or extended durations above 350HP per rotor should be evaluated per application.
  • Ratings are based on systems meeting the minimum requirements set by PTI. Other environmental factors may effect these ratings.
