A Research laboratory desired an engine dynamometer that could test high-speed UAV engines to high torque diesels. The laboratory also desired short change-out times between engine test sequences.
Custom Engineered Solution:
Power Test’s Engineered Solutions Division developed a custom, 300HP (225kW) dual ended AC Regenerative dynamometer called the AC-300HS. This unique dyno has an extremely low moment of inertia and over 395 lb-ft (536N-m) in torque capabilities, in addition to speed capabilities of 12,000RPM. The dual-ended machine allows the customer to have an engine under test on one side while setting up the next engine on the other for fast change-out. High speed UAV engines are successfully run while modified Duramax diesels are right behind.
