Job Summary
The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, fitting, and welding a wide variety of machine parts and components in all welding positions while meeting strict quality, safety, and production standards. This role involves interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings, performing layout and setup work, selecting appropriate welding techniques, and verifying finished products for accuracy and conformance to specifications. The position requires hands-on operation of welding and cutting equipment, use of precision measuring tools, and collaboration with production leaders and team members to complete projects efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions

- Fabricate and weld machine parts in all positions
- Read and use blueprints, drawings, and engineering instructions to complete work.
- Do basic layout of parts from prints or hand drawings.
- Fit and position weldments using appropriate fixtures and jigs.
- Verify conformance to specifications using various hand, power, measuring, and precision inspection tools to verify conformance of parts to blueprints.
- Select weld technique within recognized procedures to obtain maximum weld strength and alignment on both new or repair/rework items.
- Perform set-up and all position welding on a variety of parts and sizes within strict alignment, dimensions, and quality standards.
- Use oxy-fuel torch to cut and straighten material as needed to provide quality weldments.
- Manage time to ensure completion of assigned projects within specified time frame.
- Maintain quality and safety standards.
- Operate a forklift or crane when necessary.
- Follow company procedures to complete assignments
- Communicate concerns to supervisor timely.
- Maintain a clean and neat work area.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Language Skills
Must be proficient in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions. Also, good oral and written communication skills to interact with employees.
Reasoning Ability
Must have the ability to read and understand blueprints, engineering drawings, and other manufacturing instructions.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Math Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and to make metric system conversions.
Computer Skills
Basic computer skills and Manufacturing Software skills are preferred but not required.

Preferred Skills
Education and Experience Requirements
High School diploma plus 1-3 years minimum welding and fabricating, or equivalent experience and knowledge. Applicable High School shop classes or additional technical schooling/apprenticeship instruction ideal.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in the plant environment. The employee is occasionally near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
