Proper Dyno Water Inlet Connections

Water connections to the dynamometer are very important to ensure you are getting correct torque readings while testing your engine. A proper connection must be made so there are no restrictions on the rotational movement of the dynamometer and no “side”force is placed on the dynamometer carcass. The dyno must always be in neutral position, free to rotate naturally. An improper connection will cause a “side” load on the dyno, causing inaccurate torque readings while testing. Inlet water should always be connected to the dyno on the dyno’s natural center-line.

If torque reading increases or decreases substantially when the water supply is turned ON, the water pressure at the inlet connection is causing a “side” load on the dyno and should be corrected to ensure accurate readings.
